Resumen

Debido a las diferencias mecánicas, estéticas y psíquicas que afectan al individuo con la perdida de un diente y al desarrollo vertiginoso de las restauraciones fijas utilizando subestructuras metálicas, se decidió rehabilitar un grupo de pacientes con el fin de comparar dos materiales (acrílico y porcelana) como frente estético con el objetivo de incrementar este servicio en nuestra provincia. Se rehabilitaron 27 pacientes, los cuales presentaban ausencias de uno a cuatro dientes de cualquier sector o arcada dentaria. Se confeccionó una base estructural de aleación de metal no precioso (cromo-níquel), colocándose frente estético, ya fueran resinas acrílicas o materiales cerámicos del tipo de la porcelana. Estos aparatos protésicos fueron confeccionados mediante la técnica convencional descrita para este tipo de aleación siendo evaluados estética y funcionalmente en un periodo posterior a su instalación. Pudimos apreciar la evolución satisfactoria de los mismos, así como la aceptación de este tipo de rehabilitación en los pacientes atendidos.

ABSTRACT

Because of mechanic, esthetic and psychic deficiencies which affect a person because of a loss of a tooth and the vertiginous development of the fixed restorations using metallic substructures, the decision was made to rehabilitate a group of patients aimed at comparing two materials (acrylic and porcelain) as the esthetic front with the objetive of increasing this service in our province. Twenty-seven patients were rehabilitated, they presented absence from one to four teeth of any dental sector or arcade. A structural base of non-precious alloy (chromium - nickel) was made, an esthetic front was situated, whether acrylic resins or acrylic materials of chinaware. These prothesis could be appraised, as well as the acceptance of this type of rehabilitation in the patients under care.
