Morfina y droperidol epidural para analgesia post-operatoria. Epidural Morphine and Droperidol for Post-Operative Analgesia
Abstract

A study of 62 patients ASA I and II, proposed for abdominal hysterectomy, was carried out aiming to compare morphine efficacy with or without droperidol through peridural pathway, and to assess post-operative side effects. Patients were divided into two groups and cach of these groups into two subproups.Group I-A received 0.5% bupivacaina and 0.05 mg/kg of morfine, while group I-B received bupivacaina with 0.1 mg/kg of morphine. Groups II-C and II-D received the same dosis that I-A and I-B, respectively; but they were also administered droperidol (2.5 mg). Analgesia was succesfully achieved with both methods, and no significat difference, regarding time, was observed. Epidural droperidol reduced the incidence of side effects such as pruritus, nausea and vomiting. Group comparison showed a significantly decreased systolic arterial tension in group II since the begining till 20 minutes later; no important consequences were noted.Student-t and chi-square test were used for statistical analysis. Finally, droperidol associated to morfine reduced side effect incidence though no change was noted in the quality of analgesia.
