Repercusión de la endometriosis en la calidad de vida
Abstract
Introducción: la endometriosis es una enfermedad ginecológica crónica que afecta a mujeres en edad reproductiva, deteriorando múltiples dimensiones de su calidad de vida.
Objetivo: analizar mediante revisión bibliográfica el impacto de la endometriosis en el bienestar físico, emocional, social y funcional de las mujeres.
Métodos: se efectuó una revisión sistemática de la literatura científica en diversas bases de datos. La búsqueda se realizó mediante un algoritmo con palabras clave y operadores booleanos, permitiendo identificar fuentes relevantes. Los estudios seleccionados, tras aplicar criterios de inclusión y exclusión, fueron analizados críticamente considerando actualidad, calidad metodológica y pertinencia temática, integrándose en la síntesis final de la revisión.
Desarrollo: la endometriosis se caracteriza por dolor pélvico crónico, dismenorrea, dispareunia e infertilidad, con prevalencia estimada entre 10-15% en mujeres fértiles. Estos síntomas afectan la productividad laboral, las relaciones interpersonales y la salud mental, incrementando ansiedad y depresión. El diagnóstico suele retrasarse más de siete años, principalmente por la variabilidad clínica, siendo la laparoscopia el método confirmatorio. El tratamiento combina opciones farmacológicas (antiinflamatorios, anticonceptivos hormonales) y quirúrgicas (resección laparoscópica, histerectomía), adaptadas a la severidad y expectativas reproductivas.
Conclusiones: la endometriosis afecta de manera profunda la salud física, emocional y social de las mujeres, generando limitaciones significativas en su vida cotidiana y reproductiva. El diagnóstico precoz y el manejo integral son fundamentales para reducir el sufrimiento y mejorar la calidad de vida. Se requiere fortalecer la investigación y la conciencia clínica para optimizar estrategias diagnósticas y terapéuticas en esta población.
