Neurocisticercosis. Presentación de un caso / Neurocysticercosis. A case report
Abstract
ABSTRACT
Cysticercosis constitutes a public health problem in endemic areas of Mexico, Western Europe, Asia, Central and South America and Africa, which are the most representative. Due to the frequency of assisting patients who presented neurological disorders caused by the encystment of this larva in the brain a case at "Mario C. Rivas" Hospital in San Pedro Sula, Honduras is presented. A 17 year-old male patient with health records of the onset of generalized tonic-clonic seizures attended to the hospital. The diagnosis of a cysticercoid cyst in the right parietal region was confirmed by axial computerized tomography and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). The treatment was initiated with albendazole (400mg e/12 hours), and follow up with NMR.
Key words: CYSTICERCOSIS, NEUROCYSTICERCOSIS, TAENIA SOLIUM.
