Morbilidad geriátrica. Hospital "Mario Muñoz". 1998 - 1999.

Con el propósito de conocer la morbilidad de la población geriátrica en el Hospital Mario Muñoz, en el bienio 1998 - 1999, se realizó un estudio longitudinal, descriptivo con elementos analíticos y retrospectivos, de los 346 ancianos ingresados en el centro. Se demostró predominio del sexo masculino (54 62 %) y los grupos de edades mas afectados fueron los comprendidos entre los 60 y 74 años. Prevaleció la insuficiencia cardíaca entre los antecedentes patológicos personales y la sepsis respiratoria fue el diagnóstico más común, tanto al ingreso como al egreso hospitalario (25,23 y 23,64 % respectivamente). La estadía hospitalaria de 7-14 días fue la más frecuente.
