Dental trauma in Primary Health Care in Pinar del Rio

Introduction: dental trauma is recognized as one of the most important dental problems that affect our population, influencing significantly on child-age population.Objective: to determine the incidence of dental traumas considering age, sex, affected tooth and predisposing factors.
Material and method: a descriptive, longitudinal and retrospective study was carried out where 400 patients from 7 to 14 years old were included. Each group of ages included 50 patients distributed by sex equitably. A form that included data of interests was completed and processed by means of percentage analysis; Z test was applied to know of the proportions per independent groups and chi square to correlate the factors of interests.
Results: 14,25% of patients presented dental traumas, 59,64% belonged to male sex and 40,36% to female sex, right-central-superior incisor showed the highest incidence. The predisposing factors showed a marked significance.
Conclusions: dental traumas are one of the most important dental health problems the child population faces up.
