Introduction: in presppech formation the sensory stimulation received by the child is essential. Objective: to implement a stimulating program for prevention and timely treatment of speech disorders in children with perinatal risk factors, so that it allows a proper development of basic elements of oral communication, starting from the evaluation of each prespeech sub-stage.
Material and methods: an observational, descriptive, longitudinal, prospective study was carried out, at the Neurodevelopment Service of Abel Santamaría Teaching Hospital of Pinar del Río, in the period 2010-11, taking data from logophoniatric medical records processed into the statistical system InfStat 1.0. The universe consisted of 183 children, and the sample of 142 children conforming to the inclusion criteria.
Results: the sample showed 68 prenatal risk factors, 234 perinatals, and 150 neonatal. In the evaluation at the end of prespeech, 94% of the children had speech development in correspondence with their ages, and 2% got retarded. These presented as secondary cause atypical course of development, deep bilateral neurosensory hypoacusis, and epilepsy. The treatment was very efficient.
Conclusions: with this study we concluded that the implantation of the stimulating program allowed the children to reach speech development in accordance with their ages, improving their quality of life.
