Abstract
Fue clasificada una cepa aislada de un perro determinándose su pertenencia al serogrupo Icterohaemorrhagiae (marcada con el numero 169). Esta clasificación la realizaron en el Laboratorio Central de Diagnóstico Veterinario. Esta cepa, que esta incluida en la vacuna contra la leptospirosis animal y humana se reclasifico en el Instituto Gamalieya de Moscú hasta serovar, mediante anticuerpos monoclonales en noviembre de 1993. La cepa resultó pertenecer al serovar Copenhageni, coincidiendo con el patrón de clasificación mediante los anticuerpos F12C3, F70C7, F70C14, F70C24 y F89C12. La cepa modelo fue la M20. Resulta importante esta clasificación tanto por ser el primer reporte de este serovar en el país, como por la claridad que puede brindar en cuento al conocimiento de la estructura etiológica de la leptospirosis en Cuba.
