Impact of vocational reaffirmation in the baccalaureate of nursing. Medical School, Pinar del Rio, 2002
Abstract
New social programs were created with the Triumph of the Revolution giving priority to the training of human resources in nursing studies. This study was aimed at assessing the impact of the vocational reaffirmation of students enrolled in the Baccalaureate of Nursing (daytime course) at "Ernesto Guevara de la Serna" Medical School, Pinar del Rio-2001-2002. The target group was comprised of the 69 nursing students enrolled in the academic course, so the statistical specific method to the sample was no necessary. The variables used to the analysis were: level of option to choose the Baccalaureate of Nursing, reasons for deciding, activities that reaffirm their vocation for the specialty, subjects, and influences of the activities developed by the professors of the specialty to reaffirm the vocation, motivation in the institution after the enrolment as well. Among the results found: 64 students opted for the specialty in the second option (92,76%), some others preferred any medical specialty in Medical Sciences (55,08%), the activities performed in rotations reaffirmed the nursing vocation (79,71%), followed by the education in work with a 69,57%. Among the subjects they preferred General Nursing-I (98,55%), the activities developed by the professors were evaluated as good (84,06%) and in the moment of the study 91,31% of the students were motivated to the profession.Downloads
