Reflexiones sobre climaterio y menopausia. Reflections about Climacteric and Menopause
Abstract
Hoy en día sabemos que la menopausia es un estado fisiológico o un período evolutivo más en la mujer; en realidad se trata de una etapa de deficiencia crónica que se prolonga en ocasiones durante más de 20 años. Por lo que sé realizó un estudio longitudinal y descriptivo sobre las etapas de Climaterio y Menopausia, de un universo de 113 mujeres se tomó una muestra de 60 mujeres en las edades entre 45 a 55 años que constituye el 67.8 %, todas pertenecientes al Consultorio Médico # 197 del Policlínico Docente Comunitario Hermanos Cruz del municipio Pinar del Río; en los meses comprendidos de enero a julio de 2003. Para tales fines se creó el rapport necesario y procedimos a la aplicación de una encuesta donde se analizaron variables tales como: conceptos de climaterio y menopausia, manifestaciones clínicas que presentaban, vías por las cuales obtuvieron la información, entre otras. Los datos obtenidos mediante análisis porcentual fueron llevados a tablas aritméticas. Las relaciones sexuales se vieron afectadas principalmente por la disminución de la líbido, las vías de información fueron las de difusión masiva (radio y televisión), así como las enfermeras y los médicos; la mayoría creyó necesario la divulgación del tema, entre otras. Al finalizar la encuesta se le ofrecieron a las mujeres una serie de recomendaciones con el propósito de convertir esta etapa en más placentera y mejor tolerada por ellas.

ABSTRACT
Nowadays it is known menopause is a physiological condition of another natural change in women, it is a stage of chronic deficiency which can last even 20 years, that was why a longitudinal and descriptive research on the topic was carried out. Out of 113 women a sample composed by women between the ages 45 and 55 (67.8 %) was analyzed. All women belonged to Doctor's Office (No. 197) at Hermanos Cruz Outpatient Clinic in Pinar del Río Municipality during the months of January - July 2003. To achieve the purposes the necessary report was developed and a survey was conducted where the variables assessed were: concepts of climacteric and menopause, clinical manifestations presented, sources of information, among others. Data were processed following a percentage analysis and recorded in arithmetical charts. Sexual intercourse was mainly affected due to the decrease of libido; sources of information were mass media (radio and television) nurse and doctors, the majority of patients considered necessary to publicize the topic and others. At the end of the survey a series of recommendations was offered to women with the aim or turning this stage more pleasant and tolerable.
