Abstract
Se realizó un estudio retrospectivo de 112 pacientes con el diagnóstico de quiste y fistulas branquiales y tiroglosas, atendidos en los hospitales provinciales Clínico "Abel Santamaría" y el Hospital Pediátrico "Pepe Portilla" de Pinar del Río en el periodo de tiempo comprendido entre el 1 de enero de 1986 y el 31 de diciembre de 1995. De las entidades estudiadas el 54.4% correspondió a quistes tiroglosos, 34.8%, a quistes branquiales, y las fistulas branquiales y tiroglosas el 5.4%, cada una. Los quistes branquiales y tiroglosos predominaron en el grupo de 0 a 14 años. La utilización de los medios auxiliares de diagnostico fue limitada siendo el ultrasonido el mas usado con una efectividad del 66.6%. Para todas las entidades el tratamiento fue quirúrgico.
