Introduction: taking into account the restrictions and lifestyle of people suffering from leukemia, as well as the social representation of this disease, psychological intervention is necessary to improve the process of coping with the disease, for them to feel more supported.
Objective: to evaluate in the patients suffering from leukemia and diagnosed in pediatric ages the indicators of life sense, existential frustration and dimension.
Method: a cross-sectional, non-experimental study was carried out by means of a qualitative design using psychological evaluation instruments.
Results: a structured intervention guide was conducted of 10 sessions, 2 times per week and each session lasted approximately one and a half hours and a total duration of 5 weeks. The intervention is designed to be performed as a group therapy with no more than 10 subjects who are informed of the diagnosis.
Conclusion: the sense of life was absent during the first moments of the illness and diagnosis, where the non- existential frustration was not reflected throughout the study. It happened in a similar way with the spiritual dimension, which despite of being present, it is observed that is very damaged by the almost non-existent will of meaning and by the sense of life finitude.
