El estudio independiente, como componente esencial en el proceso enseñanza-aprendizaje / The independent study as an essential component in the teaching-learning process
Abstract

ABSTRACT
Independent study is considered an essential part of the teaching -learning process, thus a research was carried out with students enrolled in the Basic Course of Dentist Major aimed at knowing the role of independent study in the formation of medical students. A survey was applied to process all the information and to assess the importance this activity implied, using the method of percentage followed by the chi-squared test. Some difficulties were observed in motivation , lack of current literature sources to develop it successfully, unsuitable material conditions and resources. However ; these students considered that by means of this activity they developed the majority of the learning skills.
