Introduction: migraine is one of the most common neurological disorders, characterized by the onset of typical, recurrent episodes of unilateral and pulsatile headache.
Objective: to characterize clinical and epidemiologically migraine sufferers treated with catgut implantation in San Juan y Martínez, during 2016.
Methods: an applied, observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out. The target group included 104 patients with the diagnosis of migraine headache who attended the Traditional and Natural Medicine Office; the sample was chosen by simple random where the sampling was comprised of 85 patients meeting the inclusion criteria. Results: female gender predominated, ages between 31 and 40 years. Stress was the main migraine headache trigger, the aura was present in the majority of patients, most did not use inter-crisis treatment and the clinical evolution was good.
Conclusions: this treatment is a novel method, economic and accepted by the population, which guarantees the improvement of health status without other secondary damages.
