La ozonoterapia en el tratamiento de las osteomielitis. Ozone Therapy for Osteomyelitis Treatment
Abstract
Se realizó una investigación sobre los efectos terapéuticos del ozono en el tratamiento de las infecciones óseas, en una muestra de pacientes portadores de esta complicación ingresados en el Servicio de Ortopedia y Traumatología del Hospital General Docente "Comandante Pinares", de San Cristobal, Pinar del Río. Se aplico tratamiento general por vía rectal utilizando la forma gaseosa y también tratamiento local con el gas. Se utilizó el aceite de girasol ozonizado (Oleozon), aplicándose el tratamiento como única arma terapéutica o combinado con antiboticoterapia, cirugía de las lesiones, etc. Se obtuvieron resultados favorables en un gran numero de casos, destacándose los resultados alentadores en pacientes tratados solamente con ozono; se apreció una gran satisfacción de la población y se comprobó la ausencia de complicaciones, se concluye recomendando su utilización en el tratamiento de las infecciones óseas crónicas.

An investigation en ozone therapeutic effects in treatment of bone infections was carried out in a sample of patients taken from Orthopedic and Traumatological Service at Comandante Pinares General Teaching Hospital, San Cristobal, Pinar del Rio. General treatment with gas through rectum was used as well as local treatment. Treatment with ozonized sunflower was used alone or associated to antibiotic therapy, injure surgery, etc favorable results were obteined in a great number of patiente, speciality in those only treated with ozone. Patients were pleased with this treatment and no complications were observed. As a conclusion, we can encourage the use of this treatment in chronic bone infections.
