Introduction: lymphoma is a group of blood cancer that is divided into: Hodgkin's lymphoma and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, constituting the ninth cause of cancer in incidence and mortality in the world.
Objective: to characterize clinically morphologically and immunohistochemically the patients diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma at the León Cuervo Rubio Hospital from January 2017 to December 2021.
Methods: observational, descriptive, retrospective and cross-sectional study; the universe was constituted by 66 patients diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, coinciding with the sample, since all cases met the established inclusion criteria, using a non-probabilistic sampling by convenience.
Results: the most affected age group was 69 to 78 years (26,2 %), maximum incidence of 70 years, average of 63 years, with predominance of male sex (75,4 %), male/female ratio of 3:1. The most affected patients were white (90,8 %). The 44,6 % reported no history of disease. The head and neck region (38,5 %) was the most frequent location. Fifty-four percent showed aggressive clinical behavior. Predominance of B-cell phenotype (81,5 %), and higher frequency of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma subtype (40,0 %).
Conclusions: non-Hodgkin's lymphoma continues to be the most frequent neoplasm of its type in our environment, so early diagnosis is the fundamental pillar that guarantees timely therapeutic management.
