Motivation in the postgraduate teaching-learning process in special conditions of COVID 19

Introduction: in special conditions such as the COVID 19 period, motivationwas one of the elements to give energy and direction to behavior.Objective: to characterize the motivation in the teaching-learning process in teachers and residents of “Pedro del Toro Saad” Polyclinic under COVID 19 conditions.Methods: adescriptive, retrospective study was carried out on residents and teachers belonging to “Pedro del Toro Saad” Polyclinic, who were linked to the teaching process in the time since the COVID 19 pandemic. It was carried out from March to October, 2022. The universe was made up of 53 Comprehensive General Medicine teachers and 21 residents of the specialty,and the sample was made up of 17 educators and 14 students selected through intentional non-probabilistic sampling, who met the inclusion criteria, to whom a survey designed by the authors of the research, prior informed consent.Results: the group of teachers presented more appropriate responses about motivation; Self-realization predominated as a satisfied need in both groups studied. There was the ability to self-motivate, despite the adverse conditions of the moment, although the majority needed external stimuli to stay motivated in the teaching process. Even so, the majority of respondents stated that these conditions had a positive influence on achieving the desired goals and gain knowledge.Conclusions: motivation is an important and necessary element for both educators and students during the pandemic period in the teachingprocess.Downloads
