Immunology contents in the training of resident doctors in Cuba. Background, stage and trends

Introduction: every resident doctor must master certain transversal contents specific to the culture of the medical profession. Immunology is complementary and necessary content for the professional integrity of resident doctor, regardless of this specialty. From the educational sciences, the satisfaction of this formative requirement of the social assignment is explored. Objective: determine the features and trends in the treatment of immunology content in the training of resident doctors of other specialties in Cuba based on its historical study.
Methods: documentary and testimonial review is carried out from a historical perspective. Consulted infomed, indexed databases and printed bibliography in relation to the research topic. Logical methods of thinking were used (synthesis and analysis, dialectical and historical, inductive and deductive).
Development: background, facts and features of the training process of the resident doctor are described during the defined stages, the trends formed from two recognized essential features are determined: the presence of immunology as content in the training of all resident doctor and the treatment immunology in the training of resident doctor.
Conclusions: based on the determined traits and trend, the necessary attention is required in the treatment of immunology content in the training of the resident doctor, aimed at its systematization with a transversal and transdisciplinary approach, and connections between immunology and the disciplines of each specialty, which establish clinical theoretical links to achieve training requirements.
