Criptococosis del sistema nervioso central. Presentación de un caso.

Se presento el caso de un paciente masculino, blanco de 23 años de eda, que ingresó en el Hospital Provincial Clínico Quirúrgico de Pinar del Río Abel Santamaría, con un cuadro de fiebre, cefalea y malestar general, apareciendo días más tarde rigidez mucal y otros síntomas y signos de afectación del sistema nervioso central. El diagnóstico de meningoencefalitis fue hecho por el estudio citoquímico del líquido cefalorraquídeo y se confirmó la presencia de criptococcus neoformans con la coloración de tinta china y el cultivo micológico del líquido cefalorraquídeo. El tratamiento con anfotericin B por vía sistémica e intratecal fue impuesto de inmediato y prolongado durante seis semanas, posibilitando la curación del paciente, el cual quedó con secuelas neurológicas que lo hacen ma
