Determinantes del éxito en la rehabilitación oral con prótesis total: factores clínicos y funcionales
Abstract
Introducción: la rehabilitación oral mediante prótesis completas constituye una alternativa terapéutica esencial para pacientes edéntulos.
Objetivo: describir los factores biológicos, técnicos, psicológicos y socioeconómicos que determinan el éxito en la rehabilitación oral con prótesis total.
Métodos: se realizó una revisión sistemática de la literatura en PubMed, Scopus y Web of Science, considerando estudios publicados entre 2018 y 2024. Se emplearon términos clave relacionados con prótesis completas y rehabilitación oral. Los artículos fueron seleccionados según criterios de pertinencia y calidad metodológica, y posteriormente sintetizados para identificar patrones comunes y divergencias en los hallazgos.
Desarrollo: los factores biológicos, como la densidad ósea y la salud periodontal, resultan críticos para la retención y estabilidad protésica. En el ámbito técnico, los avances en materiales dentales y tecnologías digitales han mejorado la durabilidad, ajuste y estética de las prótesis. Los factores psicológicos, incluyendo expectativas realistas, educación sobre el uso y apoyo emocional, influyen directamente en la adaptación y satisfacción del paciente. Finalmente, los aspectos socioeconómicos, como el acceso limitado a servicios y los costos elevados, constituyen barreras relevantes, siendo los programas de subsidio y educación estrategias clave para optimizar resultados.
Conclusiones: el éxito de las prótesis completas depende de un enfoque integral que combine factores clínicos, tecnológicos, psicológicos y sociales. La atención multidisciplinaria y políticas de acceso equitativo son indispensables para garantizar rehabilitaciones efectivas y sostenibles, mejorando la calidad de vida de los pacientes edéntulos y promoviendo la equidad en salud bucal.
