Introduction: Blennorrhagia is commonly seen as a change in vaginal microbiome where intra and extra-cellular kidney-shape diplococci are observed, a purulent greenish discharge is maintained in the vaginal niche, which courses asymptomatically in women, while in men symptoms and signs of burning sensation during urination, pain and secretion after 72 hours of contact with the causal agent are observed. Objective: to determine the factors favoring the high incidence of blennorrhagia.
Material and method: a descriptive, longitudinal and prospective research was conducted in the urban area of San Juan y Martinez municipality during January 2009 to December 2010 including young people from 15 to 24 years old.
Results: it was detected that women came to the physician's office (54,6%) presenting vaginal discharge, while men (45.4%) presented symptoms of urethral discharge. The greatest percentage of affectation belonged to those who neither study nor work, showing this way, that the lowest the occupational level was, the highest the infection behaved in young population.
Conclusions: among the factors influencing on the highest incidence of Blennorrhagia in women were: low-educational level, unemployed, unstable sexual couples, beginning of sexual relations at early ages and unprotected sex practice.
