Influencia de algunos aspectos clínicos y humorales en el pronóstico de mortalidad en la UCIP. Influence of some clinical and humoral aspects in the prognosis of mortality in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
Abstract
Realizamos un estudio descriptivo y longitudinal, cuyo universo lo constituyeron todos los casos graves con mal pronóstico para la vida, que ingresaron en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos Pediátricos desde enero de 1999 hasta junio del 2000. Utilizamos como fuente las Historias Clínicas y los datos fueron obtenidos en las primeras 24 horas del ingreso y/o del agravamiento del cuadro clínico. De todos estos ingresos, solo el 3.1 % tenía mal pronóstico para su vida. El comportamiento de los parámetros vitales y neurológicos, requerimientos de apoyo ventilatorio y resultados de los complementarios estuvieron en correlación con los porcientos de mortalidad.

ABSTRACT
A descriptive and longitudinal study was conducted which sample was taken from all patients in severe conditions having poor prognosis for life who were admitted at Pediatric Intensive Care Units between January 1999 and June 2000, patients' clinical records were analysed, data were collected during the first 24 hours after the admission and/or complications of the patients' clinical conditions. For all admissions only 3.1 had a poor prognosis for life, vital and neurological parameters, ventilator support requirements and complementary results had a correlationship with mortality percentages.
