Management of endoscopic surgery for the Nursing staff

Introduction: the provision and preparation of nurses is one of the fundamental aspects of the Surgical Services.Objective: to characterize the degree of professional competence of nurses in the Surgical Services in relation to techniques and preparation for endoscopic surgery.
Material and Methods: applied research, educational intervention, prospective and longitudinal study in 2013 in the Surgical Service of Pepe Portilla Provincial Paediatrics Teaching Hospital, Pinar del Rio, Cuba. Observational and survey methods were used comparatively in two stages. The universe and the sample totally comprised 21 nurses.
Results: it was possible to characterize the degree of professional competence of nurses regarding the management of endoscopic surgery.
Conclusions: it is essential to the continued development and improvement of nurses working in surgical services especially in pediatric services.
