Estudio histopatológico del epitelio en la leucoplasia bucal

En Cuba se ha establecido un programa de detección precoz del cáncer bucal el cual puede considerarse como un pilar fundamental de sistematización futura en la erradicación de esta enfermedad. Teniendo en cuenta su importancia y considerando que entre las lesiones premalignas que afectan la mucosa bucal es la leucoplasia la de mayor incidencia fue propósito de este trabajo analizar los cambios histopatológicos que ocurren en el epitelio bucal de pacientes con Leucoplasia contribuyendo al diagnóstico de esta entidad. entidad. Para ello se analizaron 38 biopsias de mucosa bucal de pacientes con leucoplasia atendidos en el Hospital Abel Santamaría de Pinar del Río, las cuales fueron coloreadas con Hematoxilina y Eosina para el estudio histopatológico. Se observó que la ortoqueratosis se presentó en 96 de los 119 campos estudiados (80,67%) mientras que la paraqueratosis aparece solo en 23 campos (19,32%). La ortoqueratosis se asocia con la presencia de estrato granuloso en el 83,33% de los campos.
