Experiences in the training of Family-Community Medicine in Cotopaxi province

Introduction: the Model of Comprehensive Health Care in Ecuador requires the training of specialists in Family-Community Medicine.
Objective: to present the main experiences of the basic working team in Cotopaxi province during the training of specialists in Family-Community Medicine.
Method: a review of the rules and functioning documents related to the postgraduate training of Family-Community Medicine in Cotopaxi province was performed.
Development: the main experiences of students and professors in the implementation of the postgraduate training for family-community medicine physicians in terms of organization, working hours in the health care centers and communities, the development of teaching-medical assistance along with research activities and the completion of this new model are exposed.
Conclusions: the training of specialists in Family-Community Medicine in Cotopaxi province was carried out based on the objectives and guidelines of the model of health care assistance, according to the rules established in the syllabus and the contribution to the comprehensive training of these professionals; providing at the same time: equity, effectiveness and excellence in the medical services for each individual, family and community.Downloads
