Propofol como sedante en la endoscopía urológica. Propofol as a sedative in urological endoscopy
Abstract
La cirugía ambulatoria, por sus ventajas, se aplica cada día más, la selección del anestésico en este tipo de cirugía está basada en parámetros que brinden seguridad al paciente por su pronta recuperación, por lo que el Diprivan al 1% o propofol es el agente anestésico de elección. Valoramos la efectividad del medicamento en la cirugía ambulatoria de urología, la rápida recuperación del paciente, su bienestar y reducción de complicaciones. Se realizó un estudio prospectivo a 100 pacientes del sexo masculino que fueron ingresados en el Hospital Clínico Quirúrgico "León Cuervo Rubio" de Pinar del Río por cirugía ambulatoria, para realizarles cistoscopias, en el período comprendido de Octubre de 2005 a Septiembre de 2006. Se dividió la muestra en 2 grupos de 50 pacientes escogidos al azar. Ambos grupos se premedicaron con diazepam, 0.2 Mg. por Kg. de peso, y Atropina, 0.5 Mg. endovenoso, el grupo 1 se sedó con Fentanyl a 2 mg/kg. de peso y el grupo 2 con propofol a 1mg/kg. de peso. Obteniéndose resultados positivos en el grupo 2, pues el inicio y la recuperación fueron inmediatas y no aparecieron complicaciones, demostrándose que la utilización del propofol es beneficiosa en la cirugía ambulatoria de urología por la pronta recuperación de los pacientes, la amnesia de episodios indeseables y no presentación de complicaciones, por lo que los pacientes abandonan rápido el hospital.

ABSTRACT
The ambulatory surgery is applied every day, more because of its advantages, the selection of the anesthetic in this type of surgery is based on parameters providing for security to the patient for his/her soon recovery, so Diprivan 1% or Propofol is the choice anesthetic agent. The effectiveness of the drug in the ambulatory urological surgery, the fast recovery of the patient, his/her well-being and the diminishing of complications were assessed. A prospective study was done with 100 male patients who were admitted at "Leon Cuervo Rubio" General Hospital in Pinar del Río for ambulatory surgery cytoscopies from October 2005 to September 2006. The sample was divided into 2 groups of 50 patients, chosen at ramdom. Both groups were prescribed Diazepam 0,5 mg/kg. weight and atropine 0.5 Mg. endovenously; group 1 was sedated with Phentanyl, 2 mg/Kg. weight, and group 2 with propofol 1mg/Kg. weight. Positive results were achieved in group 2 since the beginning and the recovery were immediate and uneventful. It was demonstrated that the use of propofol is beneficial in the urological ambulatory surgery, because of patients' soon recovery, amnesia of undesirable episodes, and no complications, so patients are discharged from hospital really soon.
