Introduction: the development and application of information and communication technologies in medical institutions and organizations has modernized the world. Nowadays the needs and limitations of the computerized management of medical records for Corneal Refractive Surgery in the specialty of ophthalmology make the control and monitoring of patients complex.
Objective: to develop a prototype of electronic medical record in the service of corneal refractive surgery in Pinar del Río province.
Method: a Technological Research-Development study was conducted, proposing a prototype of electronic medical record for the computerized management of the clinical records for Corneal Refractive Surgery Service, based on the LAMP platform (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP), having a Web application, which is an operating system, a Web server, a database, and a programming language.
Results: the results of the analysis and design of the proposal are shown and recommendations are made for its future development. HISCOF consists in the analysis and design of software that allows the management and access to the electronic medical record in corneal refractive surgery in the ophthalmology service at Abel Santamaría Cuadrado General Teaching Hospital in Pinar del Rio.
Conclusions: the electronic clinical history prototype was designed in the refractive surgery clinic of the Ophthalmology service at Abel Santamaría Cuadrado General Teaching Hospital in Pinar del Rio; which should be able to satisfy all the needs of the service.
