Facial nerve: Morphological and Physiological characteristics, clinical applications (Teaching aids)
Abstract
The necessity of the digitally recording of the teaching aids in the universality program remains to be seen a problem in the Stomatology subject. The present study is aimed at showing the real origin, the course, branch and territory of supply of the facial nerve. A teaching aid was created for supporting the teaching process in the Subject Morphology II for the second semester of the first year of Stomatology students. The teaching aid is a system of posters in Power Point program taken from the updated books on Human Anatomy subject with clinical applications in order to increase the motivation of the student. Its use was validated using retention testing which was applied during 2006-2007 course; it was obtained a digital record of the facial nerve taking into account its real origin , course, branch and territory of supply demonstrating to the student ,the importance of this knowledge allowing the basic and clinical relationship from those lesions which may damage this nerve more frequently. This aid is in favour of the self-training and independent work of the students; it was proved by the results obtained with the retention tests which were applied. Nowadays, this teaching aid is part of the program the Subject has, supporting the universality process of the subject.Downloads
