Proposal for a professional improvement course on the approach to supportive pregnancy

Introduction: the topic of solidarity management in Cuban medicine, especially at the first level of care, requires preparing health professionals, the Basic Health Teams and the Basic Work Group.
Objective: prepare a proposal for a postgraduate course on the management of supportive pregnancy from an ethical and legal point of view and its considerations in Primary Health Care.
Methods: a development research was carried out at the “Hermanos Martínez Tamayo” Polyclinic, which culminated in a postgraduate course for health professionals, members of the basic work group, on the management of supportive pregnancy. The universe was made up of 49 health professionals. The intentional sample consisted of 34 residents, 15 in the first year of the specialty and 12 in the second year and 7 in the third year, in addition to 15 professionals among graduates, specialists and professors at MGI. Documents such as the MGI specialty governing program, the family doctor and nurse program, professional performance evaluations, and the training plan were reviewed. Triangulation was developed considering the results obtained from the applied methods.
Results: this proposal achieved a comprehensive training action, which included intellectual aspects and values that enhanced the harmonious development of the resident, without forgetting the practice and social context where they are developed.
Conclusions: the course made it easier for them to acquire the necessary tools to approach supportive pregnancy in Primary Health Care.
