Training specialists in the use of acupuncture for the treatment of peptic ulcer disease

Introduction: Natural and Traditional Medicine is defined as the set of preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitative modalities, techniques or procedures, scientifically validated by tradition and research.
Objective: it propose a training program on acupuncture in the treatment of peptic ulcer disease aimed at family medicine specialists.
Methods: a mixed, pre-experimental, hypothetical-deductive, correlational and cross-sectional research was carried out at the Rubén Batista Rubio Polyclinic in the Cacocum municipality, Holguín province, Cuba, from January 2024 to June 2024. The dependent variable was the performance of family medicine specialists in the use of acupuncture in the treatment of peptic ulcer. The statistical methods used were percentage analysis, Cronbach's Alpha and the Sign Test. The population included 34 Family Medicine Specialists and the sample assumed the same volume of the population because it was small.
Results: they identified themselves the performance of family medicine specialists in the use of acupuncture in the treatment of peptic ulcer on the basis of which a training program was designed consisting of our topics, with an active and participatory approach.
Conclusions: the result of the application of the training program through a pedagogical pre-experiment demonstrated that it contributes to the improvement of their professional performance.
