Impact of teaching materials implemented for the History of Stomatology subject

Introduction: the History of Stomatology subject is a separate subject taught during the first semester of the degree. It describes the knowledge, doctrines, theories and scientific discoveries that have fostered the progress of stomatology as a science, from ancient times to the present day.
Objective: evaluate the impact of teaching materials implemented for the subject History of Stomatology.
Methods: descriptive, cross-sectional study during the period 2023-2024. Universe: (N=338), total number of professors and students of the course. Non-probabilistic intentional sample (n=135), 61 professors and 74 first- and second-year students. Theoretical, empirical (surveys and documentary analysis) and statistical (percentage frequencies) methods were applied.
Results: respondents reported efficient assimilation of subject content, interesting and important classes for their training. Most of them know founders of teaching in Pinar del Río. All of them study with the basic text and the teaching material that is the object of study; more than half interact on the Moodle platform and use self-management of knowledge. Discrete participation in events with topics related to the subject. The entire sample evaluated the teaching material as having a high social and scientific impact.
Conclusions: the teaching material implemented is an effective means of improving the teaching-learning process in the History of Dentistry subject. The students and teachers of the course confirmed the scientific validity of its update, based on the historical knowledge of the training of human resources, contextualized and articulated with the professional's mode of action.
