Medical publications represent verifiable evidence concerning the contributions of the medical science in any period of time. The progress that medicine science has reached together with public health system gave rise to a considerable increase of specialized journals and periodical publications with the required quality. This study characterizes the scientific publications of health professionals and institutions in two phases that stand out, printed and electronic publications of the Medical Science Journal of Pinar del Rio. Historic-logic, literature review, analysis-synthesis, induction-deduction and documentary examination were the methods used. A total of 580 original articles, 7 articles of revision, 72 case reports and 44 leading articles were published, in sum 704 publications, which historically represent a very low average of scientific production considering it as an indicator. Even then, in Pinar del Rio province the conditions of the health sector are established to socialize the results obtained in the field of medical scientific research and in the training of health professionals, the production rate is still insufficient. Nowadays, to encourage the increase of production has become a priority to the different levels of direction, where a favorable environment is created to achieve superior ranks through the publication of scientific articles of quality, giving recognition to our medical journal at national and international level.Downloads
