Curricular strategies in Dentistry studies from the perspective of students

Introduction: a good pedagogical strategy will be sustained on achieving a comprehensive training action, which includes a balanced intellectual growth and values promoting the harmonious development of the student.
Objective: to assess the application of curricular strategies in the subjects of dentistry major to practice the profession from the perspective of third-academic-year students, during the second term of the academic course 2013-2014.
Material and method: a descriptive, cross sectional study was conducted from February to June 2014 into the third academic year of the dentistry staff. Theoretical methods were applied for the revision of regulations, rules, methodological-teaching guidelines, and syllabuses among other documents issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Higher Medical Education related to the subject matter, using empirical methods where 28 students were interviewed as well.
Results: the totality of students expressed they knew and applied the curricular strategy related to the educational work and ethical behavior of students, 78.5% stated they have total commands of English language, 75% make use of their skills in computing and Communication-Information Technologies, 67.5% systematized and recognized the use and practice of alternative and natural-traditional medicine.
Conclusions: Students recognized the educational and ethical work strategy was the one having more participation and where the majority developed values as social builders and promoters of human wellbeing.
