Kaposi sarcoma: report of a case

Kaposi’s sarcoma or angiogenic reticuloendotheliosis, as this dermatologic entity is also known, was first described by Moritz Kaposi in 1872 and for a century it was a rare disease of elderly men. Classic Kaposi’s sarcoma is cosmopolitan. It is most often seen in Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean region, among Jews and Italians. A patient with a history of hypertension and ischemic heart disease with violaceous nodular lesions in the right leg is presented. He underwent skin biopsy where the presence of classic Kaposi’s sarcoma was found.
