Introduction: the Ministry of Public Health is involved in the computerization of services, including the improvement of the educational process that takes place in this sector. To this end, a study regarding the problems and the needs of the students in relation to the teaching literature on loan process was made. From the study carried out, a group of aspects were defined in the working procedures and the teaching literature loan store, which, if computerized, would improve the quality of this service.
Objective: to design a computerized application that allows the control of the process with respect to the teaching literature loans at Pinar del Rio University of Medical Sciences.
Method: theoretical methods as: historical-logical, and the analysis of the documents related to the management process of the teaching literature.
Results: this work emphasizes the study of the business and the general requirements for the computerization of the teaching literature loan process. The process of checking the route of this teaching literature, will contribute to the control of the loan process using Computer Engineering knowledge when necessary.
Conclusion: in the present research, the application of software engineering techniques for the analysis and the design supported on the methodology of Extreme Programming (XP), a prototype of an application that will solve the problematic raised in relation to the loan control of the teaching literature is available.
