Memories of medical teaching in Pinar del Río on its 50th anniversary

It is a manuscript written by the beloved Professor of Merit Rafael García Portela, PhD with the valuable help of Maribel Otero García, his partner in life, and the collaboration of the testimonies of Professor of Merit Marco Antonio Montano Díaz, MD and Pedro Alexis Díaz Rodríguez, MD on their testimonial memories of the beginning and founding process of medical teaching in Pinar del Río.
The manuscript was accepted and only style modifications have been made respecting the original version from his participation in such a relevant moment in the history of Public Health in Pinar del Río.
When he was admitted to the hospital, he exchanged with the head editor of the medical electronic journal about his proposal and expressed his satisfaction at knowing that it would be published in the first number dedicated to the 50th anniversary of medical teaching in Vueltabajo, days later, he died.
The article, in addition to a valuable testimony that he left as a historical reference, constitutes an acknowledgment to the revolutionary, scientific, modest and ethical man who always was, to the honor of Cuban health.
