Introduction: information and Communication Technologies have reached a dramatic jump on the scientific development worldwide; from their introduction to the national sceneries, they have become into an indispensable element to establish the lines of development for the Cuban society, to seek for the solution of man’s problems. The computerization of the system of pharmacies, as a service offered to patients, it is a process of huge potential which allows the improvement of the management processes in the stockroom of a hospital pharmacy.
Objective: to design the architecture of information where the management processes for the pharmacy stockroom at Pepe Portilla Provincial Pediatric-teaching Hospital in Pinar de Río is supported.
Method: historical-logical, induction-deduction and modeling were the main theoretical methods applied, among the empirical: literature review and interview, the last one to take the most important requirements of the system. From the application of software engineering techniques, by means of the analysis and design, it was modeled making use of the Extreme Programming as a development methodology.
Results: the prototype of informatics application was achieved, as well as for business modeling, functional and non-functional requisites, along with a diagram of functions and programming task to complete it.
Conclusions: the elements exposed in this work contributed to the improvement of the processes that are developed in the stockroom of a hospital pharmacy from the proposed prototype to complete the management of such processes.
