Introduction: the therapeutic potential of stem cells in the treatment of peripheral arteriopathy is evident.
Objective: to assess the safety and efficacy of the procedure in diabetic macroangiopathy.
Methods: an observational, prospective and longitudinal study, which included 50 patients. They were monitored for 12 months with blood pressure index, claudication distance and pain assessment. The analysis was based on the determination of mean values, percentile values and the application of proportions and Duncan's test.
Results: male patients and the age group from 60-70 years old predominated. In the first month of treatment, pain and claudication distance improved significantly. No adverse side effects were observed in any case.
Conclusions: the procedure was effective and without complications, which encourages the continuation of clinical studies in this field.
