Characterization of the professional performance of graduates in pharmaceutical services in terms of pharmaceutical care

Introduction: education at all levels is of vital importance for the development of society; postgraduate education deserves special attention. The methodological strategy for the process of improvement of pharmaceutical professionals in community services is based on current conceptions about their performance in pharmaceutical care.
Objective: to characterize the state of professional performance in pharmaceutical care of graduates in pharmaceutical services working in community pharmacies in Pinar del Rio.
Methods: the combination of a group of methods at the theoretical (historical-logical method), empirical (observation and survey) and statistical levels, guided by the dialectical-materialist method, provided elements on the state of professional performance in pharmaceutical care of the professionals studied. Results: it was possible to determine the level of professional performance in Pharmaceutical Care of the graduates in pharmaceutical services, showing insufficiencies to integrate knowledge, aptitudes and values in the solution of professional problems related to the individual, the family and the community, in a creative and innovative way.
Conclusions: the limitations that the graduates in pharmaceutical services have for their professional performance in pharmaceutical care show the non-existence of a continuous professional improvement system that prepares them to solve them.
